Invitation to a PhotoCoach Holiday Club
Seeing with New Eyes

  • Event Dates and Times:

    • Tuesday, 14th January, 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM

    • New dates can be negotiated if necessary.


  • Age Group:

    • Suitable for children aged 12 to 16 years old.


  • Cost:

    • R140 per child, which includes:

      • Entrance fee of R40 to Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden.

      • R100 - Professional instruction and guidance throughout the event.


  • Meeting Point:

    • Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, Gate Two, near Rhodes Drive, next to Vida E Caffè.


  • Details to Note:

    • Each child should bring a cellphone with a working camera that is fully charged and ready to use.

    • At the end of the session, children will select their 5 best photos and transfer them to a secure and dedicated WhatsApp group. Assistance will be provided for those who need help with this.

    • Tickets will be pre-purchased and included in the price—no need to queue.

    • Ensure you register your child using the form below to secure a spot.

    • Latecomers cannot be accommodated.

    • All children will receive a certificate of completion, and full critiques and encouraging comment on their work.

    • Rain Policy: In case of rain, the event date will be rescheduled. Parents will be notified in advance.


  • What Your Child Will Experience and Learn:

    • A fun and educational photography session led by professional photographer Charles Mercer. and his grandson, Tristan Boucher, and helpers, if necessary.

    • Opportunities to capture nature’s beauty:

      • Photograph plants, flowers, insects (if they find any) and grasses, etc.,

      • Develop skills in observing shapes, forms, light, and shadow.

    • Optional: Install the free PlantApp on your child’s phone to identify plants they photograph (not mandatory).

    • Foster a love for nature and the outdoors while creating lasting memories.

    • Receive critiques and comments on their work.

    • Receive a free video of instructions once they arrive at Kirstenbosch

    • Receive a Certificate of Completion after loading their images for critique.

    • Supervision and instruction throughout the time.


  • What to Bring:

    • A cellphone with a working camera (fully charged).

    • Water and snacks to keep your child refreshed and energized.

    • Suntan lotion to protect against sun exposure.

    • A hat or cap for additional sun protection.
